Usually when we think of natural beauty we think of someone without makeup. Did you know that your natural beauty can be enhanced by using natural beauty products? That is: makeup and cosmetic products that are 100% natural and organic. Unfortunately most of the makeup that women wear is full of harmful toxins and chemicals. Makeup products and skincare products containing these actually can do more to harm the skin than enhance natural beauty.
You have probably heard it said that "...if looks could kill...". For many years women have been led to believe that in order to look beautiful they have to wear makeup. Most large cosmetic companies market their products so that you feel that you can't live without them. Who of us hasn't seen a commercial and thought: "I would like to look like that". This leads many women to put beauty first rather than health. Of course we all want to fit in and be accepted - but at what cost. Just think how much the makeup industry affects our thinking: How many films have you seen when the actress awakes in the morning without any makeup on? Probably not very many. So women start thinking that they have to look like this. Then their partners also start thinking the same. Then there is the other extreme. The terms 'natural' and 'organic' still have a stigma attached to them, and so many think that buying natural organic makeup products is only something for hippies. Beauty though is all relative. You could say that it is skin-deep. Fashions also change. For example, what was fashionable in the 80's would look pretty ridiculous in today. It used to be the fashion that women would have white skin - this showed that they were rich and didn't have to spend a lot of time outdoors. Now the fashion is to have a tanned skin, which is to show the same - we've got a lot of money for recreation and exotic holidays. We have been led to believe that a tanned skin is a healthy skin. Actually that could not be further from the truth. A tanned skin is actually a damaged skin. Culture also plays a part in what is acceptable and what is not. Coco Channel is quoted as saying: "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." For example in Burma is desirable for women to wear neck rings to elongate their necks. It is also reported that tourism is to blame for this because they are a popular attraction for tourists. In China feet biding used to be popular. (This is a practice whereby children's feet are bound to prevent further growth). The results were deformed feet. So we have to ask ourselves - how much of our thinking is being dictated by the media, culture and our peers? If you lived in China in the late 1800's would you have had your children feet bound? Even if it meant you being different and being rejected as a 'poor person' or someone of a 'lower social class'? During the last few years many studies have been carried out which show that most of the commercially available makeup products on the market contain dangerous levels of toxic chemicals and other irritants. Just take a look at the ingredients of any makeup or skincare product. How much of is sounds natural and how much of sound like you need a degree in chemistry to understand it? Even if you could understand everything that is listed under ingredients the cosmetic industry still hide toxic ingredients behind innocent sounding labels. For example: 'scent'. Seems harmless enough, but the 'scent' could contain hundreds of different chemical combinations. Sometimes you have to wonder if the makeup products have been produced for putting on your skin or cleaning your car engine. It's also worth noting that many of the commercially available makeup products actually cause skin irritations and allergies. Even some of the so-called cures for eczema or acne actually aggravate the skin and can make it worse. Natural organic products are manufactured in such a way that they do not cause harm to humans or animals. They are biodegradable these organic and natural products are great for the environment as well. By using natural organic makeup you will enhance your appearance and at the same time actually care for the health of your body and skin. In the long term, using natural organic makeup and skin care products will maintain a healthy balance in your body thereby improving your natural beauty and reducing the need for using too much cosmetics. How is this so? Let's examine one example. Did you know that drinking enough water moisturizes your skin? It also has many other 'side-effects', it keeps us healthier, improves metabolism, reduces headaches, and if we talk about makeup products, reduces the need to use so much moisturizer. All from something that comes free out the faucet. Think about this: whatever we put on our skin is absorbed by our body. Did you ever wonder where the skin cream went after you applied it? Yes, into our body and some of it is even metabolizes by the internal organs. If you use only products that are organic and contain natural ingredients you will help to keep your skin healthy. Natural beauty will help you look beautiful naturally. Don't risk your health for the sake of fashion. It's been done in the past and many women are still paying the price. What will be the cost of using makeup products that are full of toxic chemicals? Already studies are showing that some of these chemicals are turning up in different cancers. La'Bella MAFIA prides itself as being the premiere Las Vegas Makeup Artists and we respect all choices made by our clients, so if you prefer to have only organic natural makeup used on your skin we will respectively honor your request. Our talented diverse team of Makeup Artists in Las Vegas can customize any look using the products of your choice. Spring is on the way! This is the day you have dreamed of since you were just a little girl. You have always pictured in your mind how you would look on your wedding day. Now, it is coming time to actually start planning for that wonderful, romantic, "dream come true" of a day. You have finally found Mr. Wonderful, your perfect dress, the perfect place you want to walk down the aisle, the look and feel of the bridesmaids standing by your side, your flowers... but did you think about your hair and makeup? Are you going to leave that last detail to chance? It is time to think about hiring a professional bridal hair and makeup artist.
Why should you hire a professional bridal hair makeup artist for your wedding day? The answer is quite simple, education, experience, knowledge and the stress-free, convenient environment they create. You want every thing to be perfect on your wedding day and so do they. The last thing you need to stress about is making sure your makeup and hair looks just right. Relax; hire a professional bridal hair and makeup artist that will come to you, which puts more time in your already busy schedule. You will save time and energy and its fun! It is very important that your hair and makeup will look as beautiful and relevant in 20 years as it does on the day of your wedding. A bridal hair and makeup artist knows how to achieve the trendy styles of today without "dating" your photos, creating a perfect memory of your wedding day for you and your family to enjoy for years to come. Bridal hair and makeup artists use professional products and have the knowledge as to which ones will work with your particular hair or skin type. They are trained to create looks that compliment your dress, the theme of the wedding and your personality. When choosing makeup artists, make sure you choose one that has specialized training in what is called "High Definition". HD Makeup is the knowledge of what the camera (or photograph) will need for color and definition. Bridal Makeup artists understand how makeup will show up with the flash of the camera or under certain lighting conditions. With this education and skill, bridal makeup artists will insure your makeup is never too much or too little and that your wedding photos will be "picture perfect". TOP 10 TIPS EVERY BRIDE MUST KNOW! 1. Always wear waterproof makeup! We have heard it before, "I am not a crier." Crier or not, I think every bride would say better safe than sorry. You want your makeup to look just as fresh at the send off as it did when it was first applied. So waterproof-it-up ladies! Eyeliner, mascara, foundation, anything that comes in waterproof, wear it! You would hate to blot your eyes during the ceremony and when the preacher pronounces you man and wife, you turn around with black smudges under your eyes! You maybe happy then (you just married the man of your dreams)! But when you see the pictures the inner bridezilla might present itself, even after the wedding. So let's just deal with it correctly from the beginning, wear waterproof makeup and no one has to get hurt. WEDDING LAS VEGAS 2. Always wear fake eyelashes! I know this one might be a little controversial, but hear me out. You want to look the best you have ever looked, glamorous, romantic, and natural at the same time. You want to look beautiful like you never have before, but still yourself. Eyelashes are a fun way to enhance your eyes, yes even if you have long eyelashes, and an easy, natural way to make your makeup different from any other day. There are different types of lashes, for a more dramatic look you can choose the full strip, but if you want a more natural enhancing look go for the individual lashes. If you still don't trust me and you are using a professional makeup artist, ask them about your options (they should have a few), and ask them to apply them for your trial. VEGAS BRIDAL MAKEUP 3. Get your trial makeup done for your engagement pictures. This is a great way to make sure that you like your makeup and that it photographs well. You will also be able to see how it lasts throughout a day of smiling, kissing, hugging, maybe a tear or two. Once you get your pictures back you can decide what you like and don't like and make a better decision of whether or not you want to book that makeup artist, choose a different style, or do it yourself. LAS VEGAS WEDDING 4. If you are planning to spray tan I know I have read and heard a lot of "DO NOT tan before your wedding day!" I do agree that there is nothing worse than an orange bride, but not all tanning solutions turn people orange. Here are suggestions for fake tanning: 1.) Make sure it is custom airbrush; it leaves less room for error. 2.) Do a tanning trial a month or two before so you can see whether or not it will turn you orange. 3.) If you like it and want it for the wedding, make sure you do it three days before hand. This gives it time to blend well and fix any mistakes there might be. 5. Be Honest! Your makeup artist and hairdresser want you to be COMPLETELY honest during the trial session. That is what they are for! Don't worry about hurting feelings (well, you can still be polite in saying it) but make sure that you are very honest and specific with what you want. It makes it easier for the artist and you will be happier with the end result. 6. Make your own touch up bag You will definitely need touch ups. That is just a given. It is a good idea to ask yourmakeup artist what products they used for mascara and lips so you can go out and buy it and have it on hand for the day. If they used a special blend of their own products, have then put a little extra in a little plastic baggy and make sure to bring something to apply it with (Maid of honor's finger is fine). 7. Use a makeup artist. Since this is one of the most important days of your life, I would recommend that you hire a professional makeup artist. You are hiring professionals in every other area, why not makeup and hair? I always say the most important vendors you choose are the photographer, videographer, and makeup artist because they are the memories you take with you from your day. Does it matter if you looked fabulous the day of, but the camera didn't pick up the makeup well? You don't want to be looking at your photos afterward thinking, "I know I looked beautiful, but you can't tell!" You want your memories to show how beautiful you really looked. 8. Make sure the makeup used, by your professional or otherwise, is long-lasting and HD quality. This is very important!! Two things you want your makeup to do: last all day/night and look good in pictures. Some good long lasting makeup (and HD quality) is airbrush — usually good for 12-18hours. Another tip is to apply primer about 10 minutes before foundation. Some good primers are NARS or SmashBox. These days every photographer and videographer is using HD quality equipment. This is fabulous because you pictures will look great. You just want to make sure that you are wearing makeup that will come out fabulous in the pictures. The best option for this is airbrush makeup. The way that it sprays on is pixelated and has the best results on camera. If you can't find someone who airbrushes you can still find HD quality foundation. Make Up Forever has really great HDquality foundation. 9. Shape your eyebrows Have you ever noticed the difference between someone who takes care of their eyebrows and someone who just lets them grow? I know I do, because I can tell on myself. When I have my eyebrows waxed I feel like a new woman! It can make so much of a difference. If you have never gotten your eyebrows waxed or shaped before, go to a professional a couple months before. That way if you don't like it you will have time to grow them out. If you do like it, continue going to the same person and keep it up until the wedding. The last time you should get your eyebrows waxed should be at least 3 days before the wedding. This gives you enough time to make sure you don't have red above and below your eyes and that the makeup will go on smooth. 10. Don't forget your makeup artist or hair stylist!! After you have been beautified for your perfect day, make sure you show some love to the people who got you there! Makeup artists and hair stylist are always looking to update their portfolio and the best way to do that is with the professional pictures from your photographer. Make sure when it is said and done and you have some pictures back, you let your stylist know that they can get them printed out and use them for their website and literature, etc. It would be a huge help to them! THE SQUARE FACE If your face is shaped like Jennifer Aniston, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson or Hillary Swank, you've got a square face. A square face is generally categorized by a strong, defined jaw, much like your celebrity look-alike. When choosing a hairstyle to suit your square face, you should aim for one that will take the emphasis away from your jaw. A great way to do this is to opt for hairstyles that have texture and layers. Choppy and uneven ends that frame your face are great options for this face shape. So are side-swept bangs. Curls in varying positions also look great on this face shape. Avoid hairstyles that end on your jawline as these will define your jaw. Remember "the Rachel" hairstyleworn by Jennifer Aniston in Friends? This one is a great option for shorter hair and works wonders for square faces. THE ROUND FACE Celebrities with a round face include Cameron Diaz, Kate Bosworth, Kate Hudson and Katherine Zeta Jones. When choosing a hairstyle to suit your round face, aim to keep the face balanced. You want to keep the face clean and free from fringes and very choppy, blunt bangs. Try to keep the volume of the hair surrounding your face as minimal as possible, as you don't want to accentuate your roundness. A great hairstyle for a round face is to have long bangs, swept to the side that cover the forehead. THE OVAL FACE When it comes to oval faces, famous faces that come to mind include Cindy Crawford, Hayden Panettiere, Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow. This face shape is probably the easiest to style because it will suit most hairstyles. Depending on your individual tastes, you can have long or short hair options. Try to avoid styles that add too much height to your head, as these will make your face seem out of proportion. Play with sexy bobs, long and loose curls and choppy bangs as these styles look fabulous on you. THE HEART-SHAPED FACE The distinct feature that defines this face shape is the cute, pointy chin much like celebrities such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Reese Witherspoon, Victoria Beckham and Natalie Portman. All these celebs have what is known as a heart-shaped face, because when you look at it, the point chin resembles a heart. With this type of face shape you want to draw attention away from your chin in the center, therefore avoid straight cut fringes, which will define your chin. You can play with many options, including side-swept bangs and try them out in different positions. These will finish off your look nicely and take the emphasis off your chin. Play with soft, wispy layers that start just under your cheekbone, or if you have long hair, longer layers are very flattering for this face shape. THE LONG FACE If your face is long like Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz, Lindsay Lohan and Liv Tyler you should try to avoid plain Jane hairstyles. Instead of parting your hair in the middle, opt for side partings and avoid straight cut styles as these will make your face look longer. Create fullness at the top and then have sexy layers, at varying lengths to finish this look off. Romantic, loose curls look great with this face shape. | |
