Apply Concealer like a professional Makeup Artist
Cosmetics are meant to enhance your natural beauty, not to hide it, and definitely not meant to cause skin problems. Concealer is a product that many women, however, do not know how to properly apply. Concealer can ultimately cause the skin to look silky smooth and flawless when applied the correct way. The way most women apply it usually makes the make-up looked caked on or makes the skin look oily, lifeless, and dry. Sometimes the wrong application can even cause dermatology problems. The following tips can help you learn how to apply concealer the correct way, no matter what brand you use.

Tip #1: Use only new, clean products to apply the concealer.

You can apply concealer with your fingers, a brush, a make-up sponge, or a cotton swab. However, no matter how you choose to apply the make-up, make sure that the application product is clean and, if possible, new. When you apply concealer with old tools, the leftover caked on make-up from last application can cause clumps and uneven application. It can also harbor bacteria that can stick to your face and causes blemishes and other dermatological issues. Even if you use your fingers, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before-hand, and always wash your face before applying makeup.

Tip #2: Choose a concealer that perfectly matches your skin tone.

Without the perfectly matched make-up, it does not matter what application process you use. Today, most of the major brands work well with all skin types, but you have to find the best color for your skin tone. Do not just look at the bottles and choose the color that seems right. You may be surprised to find that your face is a lot darker or lighter than you think. Concealer is made with either cool or warm undertones, so even if you get the right darkness, you still may not have the perfect color. Test out small sizes to find the one that is right for you, and remember, you may need a darker color in the summertime if you spend a lot of time outside. Many cosmetic lines have transparent color swatches that you can put your hand under and match your skin tone to the concealer hue.

Tip #3: Apply foundation before applying concealer.

Concealer is meant to do just what the name implies and conceal. It should not be the first thing you put on your face, since concealer is too heavy for an all-over coat that evens out your skin tone. First, put on foundation to do that job; then use concealer to cover up the problem spots. If you use concealer like foundation, you will most likely end up with a caked-on, heavy look.

Tip #5: Set the concealer with a pressed powder.

After applying foundation and concealer, set your face with a pressed powder. Many women skip this step, but if you do, you will likely find that the concealer has worn off by the middle of the day. Pressed powder can actually save you money, since it means you have to apply your concealer less often.

Tip #6: Use a light touch.

For the best application, apply the concealer with a light hand. You can always add more if needed, but with most great products, you actually need to use very little to cover up blemishes. If the concealer comes out to thick, you can draw more attention to those spots on your face. Remember, foundation first, then concealer. If you need more concealer, add it then, but most concealers will likely cover any blemish with just a single coat.

Tip #7: Use special concealer to cover up bruises, dark circles under your eyes, and other hard-to-cover blemishes.

Regular concealer might not work for every person in every instance. For example, if you are trying to cover a scar, dark circles under your eyes, a bruise, or other contrasted blemishes, you may need a special concealer to get the proper coverage. Apply this concealer after foundation and a light touch with your regular concealer. You may be surprised to find that you do not actually need the heavy-duty make-up in most cases. We are usually extra critical of our own faults, but the blemishes on your face may not be that bad, calling only for a regular concealer.

Concealer should be used sparingly, and if you apply it with a discerning eye, it will not look like you are wearing any make-up at all. The right concealer and other make-up products can be your best friends, making your skin look alive, healthy, and fresh, while the wrong application for these products just will not do your natural beauty the proper justice.

Las Vegas Airbrush Makeup Artists
Every woman strives to look beautiful and attractive. It helps them feel better and more confident. Almost every woman enjoys dressing up fashionably. It definitely highlights your best features, and adds a little glamour to your personality. Most women depend on the use of cosmetics to enhance and beautify their features. The use of cosmetic products can serve to mask your scars and blemishes. One of the most recent advancements in fashion is the introduction of the airbrush makeup. Instead of having to constantly reapply compacts and mascara throughout the day, women can put on their make up only once a day, regardless of what their schedule demands: For instance, a swimming class or a hot summer picnic. Airbrush cosmetics are specially formulated to be applied to the face using a brush system, or with the proper mixing cream.

Airbrushing covers all flaws and can last for the whole day. A single application can transform your face for the wedding, prom, or any special occasion. These cosmetics are water resistant and will not smudge with touching. These cosmetics have increasingly found popularity among men as well. All you need to do is to select a color matching your needs. You can apply foundation, blush, eye shadow, and mascara using the system. It can help you regain the fresh, well touched and glamorous look in no time. A flawless appearance often adds to your confidence. Using the airbrush makeup will make you look and feel great. This beauty technique has been used by celebrities in Hollywood & the fashion industry for years to create the flawless looks that are posted on magazine covers & even HDTV. It creates a smooth, full coverage, long lasting application that looks & feels natural on your skin.

Many women are often confused about how to use airbrush makeup. It is highly recommended to look for Learn How to Airbrush guides available on the Internet. This will help you learn more about the techniques and appropriate method required for beautifying your skin. Since this method is water-resistant, perspiration and tears are no longer a problem. Simply blotting, not wiping, away any moisture will leave your makeup intact. It will not fade, melt, or rub off on clothes, and yet can be easily washed away with soap and water.

Make up can be necessary in some professions. Compared to traditional make-up, airbrushing can do wonders to enhance your beauty. For women with little time to spend on their cosmetic procedures, this makeup is one of the best methods of application. Women of any age can benefit from airbrush makeup in Las Vegas.

La'Bella MAFIA is extremely excited to welcome the fierce, fabulous and talented Lisa Robinson to our team of Las Vegas Makeup Artists + Hair Stylists, here you will read why she has a love for being a Las Vegas Makeup Artist + Hair Stylist and what sets her apart from other Makeup Artists + Hair Stylists in Las Vegas.

LISA- My passion for hair and makeup artistry started at a very young age. I recall it pretty well, I was in second grade and I had just finished watching Nosferatu. Captivated by the special effects and style of the 1922 film I knew that was what I wanted to do; create and change people. I held tight to my passion dabbling here and there in high school, doing prom hair and makeup for my friends before I decided to try out psychology in my early 20s just to make sure that the beauty industry was what I truly wanted. Needless to say it didn't take me long to decide that yes, I needed to pursue my passion. I have been in the industry for well over six years now and love all aspects of it. It is my goal to make my client as happy and comfortable as possible, stay updated in the latest trends and techniques and spread positivity & knowledge. My skill set ranges from special-effects makeup to corrective color and everything in between. Known for my unique chair side manner & my ability to re-create many different looks from many different eras I feel I bring something special to the projects and clients that I to work with.

Do you want to look great for a wedding, a New Year's Eve Party, graduation, prom or just that special night out? You may not be stepping on the red carpet today, but why not have the same beautiful tan that your favorite celebrity has? With professional spray tanning, you can.

Instead of worrying about the potentially damaging effects of the sun, you get an all natural sunless tan that lasts from 7 to 14 days. And you can have a tan as light or as dark as you want.

You can get a fantastic spray tan both at your home. Our mobile spray tanning is a great option for those that have busy lifestyles or just prefer to be in the comfort of their own home.

Prepare to Tan
If you've never spray tanned before, you'll probably want to try it once or twice before your special event. You'll find the optimal level for your skin color and with the help of your MAFIA MIST professional, you can decide how you look your best.

Once you know the date of your special event, book your spray tanning appointment one or two days in advance. You will want to shave or wax at least one day before your spray tan. Waxing will leave your pores open for several hours and may leave remnants of wax on your skin that could lead to an uneven looking tan.

Exfoliate your entire body the day before your spray tan. This removes any dead skin cells and helps extend your tan. Use a loofah or an exfoliating glove or mitt and concentrate on the driest areas of your body, such as knees, elbows, feet and ankles. Don't use an oil-based exfoliate, as these products may leave a residue that blocks the tan application.

The Day of Your Spray Tanning Appointment
Shower shortly before your appointment and don't apply any type of moisturizer to your body or face after showering. You'll also want to avoid any type of beauty product, including deodorant, body spray, perfume or makeup. Anything on your skin may block the tanning solution and prevent optimal absorption.

During Your Spray Tan
You may not want to wear anything at all during your session. Don't be shy, as the less you wear, the better your results. If you prefer to cover up a little, wear an old swimsuit or underwear.

Before beginning, your MAFIA MIST Professional will consult with you briefly about your expected results and choose the right solution for your skin type. Application will take about 10 minutes and the solution will begin to dry immediately.

You'll find that your hands and feet appear lighter than the rest of your body, since those areas will develop more (become much darker) than other parts of your body.

How to Maintain a Long-lasting, Great-looking Tan
Wash only the palms of your hands prior to your first shower. Your MAFIA MIST Professional will let you know how long to wait, based on the custom tanning solution you're using. Usually, you'll want to wait at least 5 to 8 hours after your tanning session before taking a shower.

Keep the water temperature warm to cool, gently wash your body (without scrubbing), and pat yourself dry with a towel. It's normal to see some color run off during the shower, but that's mostly the bronzer used to calibrate the color of your tan.

Don't exercise until after that first post-tan shower. Avoid any activity that causes excessive sweating until the tan has a chance to develop.

Moisturizing your skin is the key to extending your spray tan. Ask your MAFIA MIST Professional about skin hydrating products that can keep your tan from fading. You may also want to try a moisturizing enhancer, designed to prolong the life of your tan.

Any type of exfoliating product will cause the tan to fade more quickly. So you'll want to avoid shaving tanned areas for at least 48 hours following the tan application, taking baths and soaking in hot tubs, saltwater and chlorinated pools will also shorten your tan.

Try these tips during your next spray tan and get ready to walk that red carpet. Your gorgeous, sun-kissed look will make you the envy of all your friends. And you'll look and feel beautiful on your special day.

BEAUTY BUST
Let's find out how many serial makeup offenders we have out there... feel free to fess up and come out of hiding! especially the makeup artists out there who get paid to commit these horrific crimes.
When we tell people we are makeup artists, almost immediately, they hide their faces or say something along the lines of ‘ Oh my God don't look at my face' .

It seems that the moment they realize a person who applies makeup for a living is in the room, they become ashamed of what they have done with their faces that morning.

The truth is, most of the time, the makeup we see is generally not the complete  disaster they make it out to be… but sometimes it is, and it doesn't take a makeup artist to see it!

To avoid becoming the person people take a second look at on the street ( in the wrong kind of way ) make sure you are not an offender of one of the following crimes;

Picture
1.  The foundation line
We all know someone  (or have perhaps been that someone ) who has worn foundation that is a few shades too dark for them! Girls… let's get one thing straight here…. no one…, NO ONE, looks good with an orange line that separates their face from their neck!

Why do people do this?
Either they  want to look more tanned than they really are or they believe that using a darker colored foundation will help disguise bad skin or scars. makeup artists las vegas
What can you do if you have identified this as yourself?
Firstly, if you are using your wrong colour foundation to give yourself a bit more ‘color' try this instead; Match your foundation perfectly to your skin colour, once you have your flawless base you can then choose a powder that is slightly darker than your skin colour. Powder is a lot easier to blend down your neck and décolletage than it is to smear foundation all over ! If you a still feeling like you need a bit more of a tan, then you can take out your bronzer and apply in the appropriate area.

Secondly, if you are committing this crime because you believe it will help you cover bad skin or scaring, think again! The best way to cover flaws on the skin is to not draw any extra attention to it! Once again, match your foundation perfectly to your skin, however this time try using a different formula.  If you are finding that your usual liquid foundation isn't giving you the coverage you want, then try switching to a stick foundation. las vegas makeup artists

Picture
2. Clumpy eyelashes
Never a good look! It's actually quite scary to bump into someone who has overloaded their eye lashes with mascara making them chunky and clumped together.

Why do people do this?
Either they believe that this is creating more ‘Volume' or they haven't changed their mascara is a few years!

What you can do if you have identified this as yourself?
If you believe that this technique of layering your mascara is giving you more volume… in a way you are right because your lashes will be a lot thicker… however there are many other ways to create beautiful thick lashes than to cake on mascara making your eyelashes look like spider webs! Try using a volumizing mascara… two coats are more than enough.. or if you just can't get enough then false lashes might be for you! They may be fake but they will look a whole lot better than makeup crime number 2!

If you are still using the same mascara that aunt Judy gave you for Christmas the same year you got your braces taken off you might like to think about replacing it! Mascara needs to be replaced every two months! Even if it hasn't run out. Mascara breeds bacteria because it is being used on your eyes every day so if you are not regularly replacing your mascara you may be doing more damage to your eyes than good!

Picture
3. Dark lip liner light lips
Girls, let's just remember which decade we are in, shall we? Until the 80's/90's come back into fashion we don't need to worry about embracing this technique of using dark lip liner with a pale lipstick!  The only people who can ignore this rule are drag queens. Not a drag queen? Then read on!

Why do people do this?
There is only one reason why people would commit such a crime, and that is, they are stuck in the early 90's ! vegas makeup

What can you do if you have identified this as yourself?
You may think it looks good because that's the way you have been doing it for as long as you can remember but let me just help you by making it clear... it does NOT look good... there we said it... and we are all thinking it, so embrace change and go and find yourself a lip liner and lipstick that work together in harmony (and we don't mean like ebony and ivory)! makeup vegas

Picture
4. Cat flicks
What are cat flicks? You may be committing this crime without even knowing the name of it ! Cat flicks are the over extension of your upper eyeliner. Think Amy Winehouse ! A small extension is often acceptable, depending on the eye shape, but let's not go overboard girls, it's not cool.

Why Do people do this?
Many people who attempt cat flicks do so because they are under the illusion that it will make them look like they have cat shaped eyes... which is what many of us want ! Another reason could be that they are trying to follow the 'come and go' trends of the catwalk. Let me just put it out there in case you haven't noticed... what goes on on the catwalk stays on the catwalk! Catwalk trends are not to be taken too seriously, you don't see people walking down the street dressed in aluminium foil with fish bowls on their heads! The same goes for catwalk trends of fashion and makeup artistry, they are always adapted into a "ready to wear" collection for everyday life and you are not expected to wear what you see on the catwalk! Other reasons could also include; trying to be like Audrey Hepburn, trying to be like Amy Winehouse, watching too much bewitched,  being a drag queen or being  a geisha.

What can you do if you have identified this as yourself?
Take it back a notch... or two. As stated previously, a small extension is acceptable but note the word 'small' in this sentence. It is also important if you wish to stick with this look that you don't use liquid eyeliner. Use only a charcoal pencil and blend into a smoky line so that it's not an overly obvious line that looks like it's been drawn on your eyes by your 6yr old daughter with a sharpie! vegas makeup artist

Picture
5. Drawn-On Eye Brows
This could really come under its own segment of eyebrow disasters.  Drawn on eyebrows, including tattooed eyebrows and also sparse eyebrows that have not been pencilled in are all NO GO zones. Let me explain a little further for you in case you are wondering how to judge yourself right now. Drawn on eyebrows are not ok. These are the kind of eyebrows that are drawn on with an eyebrow or eyeliner pencil, just drawn on, just like drawing a line on a piece of paper with a pencil. The problem here is that they don't look like eyebrows they look like drawn on lines and almost all of the time they are completely the wrong color ( for some reason the older ladies like to draw theirs on dark blue... perhaps the same reason ladies like to dye their hair absurd colours when they get older?) secondly tattooed eyebrows are just the same as these drawn on eyebrows only they are there forever and thirdly if your eyebrows are sparse and un shapely and you don't fill them in (the right way) then there is also a problem.

Don't be fooled though and think you have gotten away with it because you have the most perfect eyebrows! Everybody needs some kind of eyebrow maintenance. Most people need to feather a tiny bit of eyebrow pencil through theirs.
vegas makeup artists
Why Do People Do This?
This crime come from being un-educated or from the long generational  history behind us that unfortunately for some families/ cultures has not been broken!

What Can you do if you have identified this as yourself?
If you have already had your eyebrows tattooed, sorry to say... there is not too much you can do about it now! If you are reading this blog on your iphone in the waiting room of the tattoo parlour stand up, walk out and never return!  If you have a serious habit of drawing your eyebrows on with a pencil, know this... eyebrow pencils are never really made to be applied straight to the skin! Maybe you could get away with lightly feathering in a few strokes with a very, very thin pencil  directly onto the skin so long as the pencil matches the colour of the rest of your hairs exactly, however, the best way to apply pencil to your brows is by using an angle brush. Angle brushes are sold everywhere. It doesn't have to be the best most expensive brush to do the job (although you will never have to replace a good quality brush).  Brush the angle brush against the pencil to grab the colour and feather the brush through the brows to give you the most natural looking perfect brows. Same goes for those who have sparse or uneven or over tweezed brows. Did you know that 90% of expression is read from your eyebrows? With unfinished eyebrows the whole face is unfinished so pick up an angle brush and an eyebrow pencil and start feathering girls!
